JOWP - Monopile integrity analysis during lifting/upending operations

HESI

Project description:

Hyundai Engineering & Steel Industries (HESI) is planning to install the monopile (MP) foundations of the Jeonnam I Offshore Wind Farm (JN1). The offshore wind farm comprises of 10 wind turbine generators (WTG) with a total capacity of 100 MW. JN1 is about 130km away from Songdo port, at water depths from 10 up to 30 meters.

This project aims at complementing the performed structural analysis on MPs during upending/lifting operations.

OI’s scope of work:

This work consisted in a complete structural analysis of the MP integrity for 0, 30, 60, 90 deg upending angle. In particular, it included 3 studies:

  1. Linear-elastic analysis
  2. Plastic analysis
  3. Buckling analysis
