Project description:
Office based work for the first four months of the work for Jan de Nul. The original plan was to work as a Project Engineer for the Greenlink project. Due to delays in the project, this scope changed to various projects within Jan de Nul.
OI’s scope of work:
First part, consisted of research & study of the average fuel consumption of the cable lay vessels at JDN. Gathered data from previous years provided JDN a better understanding of it’s vessels fuel consumption, allowing for more accurate future tenders.
In the second part, OI engineer was assigned as a project engineer for a repair scope in Greater Changhua OWF, using Willem de Vlamingh as the work vessel. This consisted in:
- Develop and write the RAMS (Risk Assessed Method Statements);
- Develop task plans and story boards;
- Working together with analysis team to assess feasibility of the work;
- Project planning and schedule;
- Logistics.

Vessel based work. After the first months of office based work, OI engineer joined Connector vessel, as a project engineer.
OI’s scope of work:
The roles of the project engineer onboard the vessel consisted of:
- Client and MWS interface;
- Ensure the crew follow the RAMS as intended;
- Ensure QA/QC standards are met;
- MOCs development;
- Crew changes planning and logistics;
- Vessel planning: maximizing the vessel working time in an environment were the planning is constantly changing (clients needs, other vessels in the field, weather, etc.);
- Vessel logistics, ensuring all material necessary for the job is available, port calls, purchases, subcontractors, etc.;
