LNG Terminal Eemshaven (2022) Vent Fatigue Assessment

Gasunie

Project description:

The Eemshaven Energy LNG Terminal commenced gas production on September 2022. Upon start-up small bore vent piping was found to be vibrating due to flow induced vibration of the system. 6 vent lines with 50mm NB had to be analysed for failure, based on monitored vibrations, in a fatigue life assessment.

OI’s scope of work:

The scope of work envisaged for OI was as follows:

  • Gathering vibration data: frequency and velocity at different flow rates
  • Calculating stress levels in areas most susceptible to fatigue damage
  • Determining the fatigue life based on DNV S/N curve
  • Recommend mitigation measures
