TCP Spooling Analysis

Strohm

Project description:
Analysis of the spooling and unspooling of a Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) to assess the residual bending moment retained in the TCP after spooling and to observe the shape of the TCP after unspooling.

The TCP is spooled onto a reel, which is deployed subsea. From there it is unspooled using a vessel crane.

OI’s scope of work:
Transient analyses of the spooling and unspooling steps, calculating bending and torsion (coupled) histories.
