J-Tube Design Tools (2019)


Develop and validate in-house tools for J-tube design. The purpose of the tools is to determine friction and reaction forces on the J-tube that result from cable / pipe pulling.

Analytical Tool Development
  • Excel sheet tool creation;
  • Sensitivity analysis;
  • Materials and diameters database
  • Code checks (DNV-OS-F101)
Numerical Model Development
  • Model input parameters;
  • Modelling in ANSYS;
  • Non-linear analyses inc. frictional contact
  • Sensitivity analysis – J-tube bend radii and riser diameter;
  • Validation against analytical results
