Project description:
The CHPE project consisted of a HVDC transmission line from the US-Canada border to New York City. Two five-inch diameter cable bundle with a submarine fiber optic was installed in two phases, Upper Hudson in 2024 and Lower Hudson and Harlem river in 2025
OI’s scope of work:
OI provided support to the NKT engineering team with one lead installation engineer. NKT was the main contractor and had various subcontractors to manage, the main ones being Asso Subsea and Cadwell Marine International. The scope of the engineer consisted in managing the different subcontractors, ensuring they delivered the project safely and in time, in accordance with NKT’s quality standards. This scope also involved managing the final client’s (CHPE) expectations and that the project deliverables are consistent between all subcontractors.
